The Ebenezer Community Development Organization (ECOD), led by Acting Executive Director Faston Bwanali, recently led a successful tree-planting initiative at Kawuwa Primary School. Out of 500 seedlings secured, 200 have already been planted—with strong support from the school and local community.
“The response has been positive. We’re encouraged by the commitment shown in fighting climate change,” said Bwanali.
He emphasized the importance of caring for the young trees to ensure long-term environmental impact. School Management Committee Chair Phillip Chawinga expressed gratitude, noting the trees will restore lost cover and benefit future generations.
Head Teacher Towera Mumbo highlighted the role of trees in preventing natural disasters and providing resources like timber. She pledged to engage the PTA in maintaining the seedlings.
Community leader Emily Mhone also called on well-wishers to support more tree planting efforts.
This initiative is part of ECOD’s broader mission to promote environmental conservation and sustainable development through active community engagement.
